Building Community, One Person At A Time…

A recent event at FuegoMundo...

If you have paid even a little attention to what is happening in the world of marketing, you know social media is changing the world. Problem is, there are still a lot of folks not on board for the ride yet.

That’s ok. But once you get on, hang on tight! It’s a wild ride.

But my simple goal today is to offer our readers a chance to see social media up close – and in action. This Wednesday night, July 8th, there is a TweetUp. What is a TweetUp? A gathering of people who are active on, you guessed it, Twitter. It’s just really another type of networking session, a way for a community to engage.

But the really exciting thing about this? In just a short amount of time, say two weeks, we have recruited almost 100 people to attend this event. And we didn’t spend one penny. Didn’t send out one paper invitation. Didn’t send out one “spammy” email interrupting your otherwise glorious day.

No, we did it using just TWO tools, Twitter and Facebook. Easy.

Well, not really. It may have taken us a few days to build this crowd, but it actually took months and months of building a community, one day at a time, one person at a time, to generate the interest and enthusiasm for this event.

But the great thing to understand is this: anyone can do this. It takes time, discipline, and a sustained effort, but you can build a community and grow your circle.

Deets on the TweetUp – ALL ARE WELCOME! Two-for-one Sangria Night!

600PM at FuegoMundo Wood-Fire Grill – 5590 Roswell Road, Suite A120, Sandy Springs GA 30342. Link to directions here!

You are welcome to come, just drop us a comment on this post below so that we have an accurate count (want to be sure we have enough sangria!). Come see social media in action. Come see the fruits of building a community!

See you at FuegoMundo!

What a great idea. I wish I could attend. I am new to social media world, but have made contact with “long lost” customer from my sales past. Thanks for what you are doing. Keep up the great work!

I’m a young professional just starting my career at a Fortune 50 company, and this blog has just captured my attention. I’m a late comer to Twitter, but after seeing what Twitter and social media are doing for other professionals makes me really want to get involved! Events like these are going to make the site explode more than it already has…
